If the question is how do you calculate the days?
It's pretty simple it's just linear math. We first add the years, then the months, the weeks, and Lastly the days.
Do you factor in leap years?
Yes, the date tool does account for leap years. However, unless you’re using days and weeks heavily you probably won’t run into them too often.
Months and years abstract away the days and weeks inside so you likely won’t even notice them.
For Other Dates and Time Calculators
I'm talking about a useful calculator? There are always a bunch more for your fun:
Add Number of Days to Date Calculator is a Gregorian calendar based online tool to find what will be the day, date & month when adding a certain number of days to any desired calendar date.
This day and date calculator proffer answers to the following questions
What is the falling date after a certain number of days added to a reference date?
What is the falling day after a certain number of days added to a reference date?
Find the date and day for after 30 days from the calendar date 5-25-2019.
- Select the reference date 5/25/2019 from the calendar
- Input the number of days to be added to the desired date as 30
- Press the calculate button to generates the resulting date as 6-24-2019 and day as MONDAY for the added days to the reference date.
Due to the nature of the Gregorian calendar, all the months don't have an equal number of days. 7 out of 12 months in the year have 31 days each, 4 out of 12 months in a year have 30 days each. The month of February stands as the only month in the ordinary year with 28 days and 29 days for a leap year. As a result of this Variation in the number of days between the months in the year, the calculation becomes a bit puzzled when finding the falling day and date of the calendar while adding a certain number of days to any reference date.
To make the calculation simple, it is highly recommendable to make use of a tool such as a date calculator to find the exact falling date and day of the calendar when a certain day will be added to any date. This calculator is developed based on the most popularly used Gregorian calendar which gives 365 days for an ordinary year or 366 days for leap year which counts from January to December as 12 months, it is therefore also known as a Gregorian calendar date and day calculator. It is also known as date and day finder because the date and day are mainly calculated from the number of days added to the selected or reference date of the Gregorian calendar.
Adding months to date
To add a given number of years to date, you can use the EDATE function. In the example shown, the formula in D5 is = EDATE (B5, C5 )Let's quickly show how this formula works,
The EDATE function is fully automatic. you simply need to supply a valid date and a number of months.
Add or subtract years from a date
In this example, what we're doing is adding and subtracting years from a starting date using the following formula:
=DATE (YEAR (A2) +B2, MONTH (A2), DAY (A2))
Add or subtract years from a starting date with =DATE (YEAR(A2) +B2,MONTH (A2 ),DAY (A2))
How the formula works:
For the Year function, take into account the date in cell A2 and return 2019. It then goes ahead to add 3 years from the B2 cell, resulting in 2022.
The Month and Day functions only bring back the original values from the A2 cell, but they are still required by the Date function.
Finally, the Date function combines all these three values into a date which then takes us to 3 years in the future with the resulting date as 02/08/22.
Add or subtract a combination of days, months, and years to or from a date
In the following example, we are adding and subtracting years, months and days from a starting date with the following formula:
Use the DATE function to add or subtract years, months, or days to/from a date.
How the formula works:
The Year function considers the A2 cell Date and returns 2019. It then adds 1 year from cell B2, which results in 2020.
The MONTH function returns 6 and adds 7 to it from cell C2. This becomes interesting, because 6 + 7 = 13, which is 1-year and 1-month. In this case, the formula will recognize that and automatically add another year to the result, taking it from 2020 to 2021.
The Day function takes away 8 and adds 15 to it. This works almost the same way with the Month aspect of the formula if the numbers of the days in a month are taken into account.
The DATE function combines all three values into a date that is 1 year, 7 months, and 15 days in the future with a resulting Date as 01/23/21.
